California check in..

Sounds like the weather is being pretty intense down there.

Let me know how you're doing, since I only use internet for news & won't necessarily see anything other than twisters hitting the coast (wth?).

Thanks much!

We're getting some good rain. A little flooding here and there, a few 'water rescues' (people that stalled their cars driving through flooded streets) and the non-native eucalypti that inevitably fall on things when it rains. So far so good, but this next storm brings snow down to 4000' so we'll see what happens

Well, here it is raining. Or if you listen to the news, "STORMWATCH 2010!!"
We have rain. Plain and simple. Yes, it is raining for longer than most are used to, but it is still rain. At least here. Well, lookie there! I just glanced outside and there it is, Mr. Sun!
He will most likely go away for a little while longer, but I remember as a kid looking out our big front window, watching people slog through our flooded street. It was cool to watch the water spray way high. Cole doesn't like thunder but we haven't had too much of that. So here we are wet, but not melting...ding dong and all that.

Thanks :) I think Papi took film footage of the cars with the waves coming off them going down Pensacola. We're going to have to convert all those movies to DVD someday...

Glad you're all safe :)

Kids got a snow day today. SDFD officials were pretty worked up about flooding in the Tijuana River Valley so we flew it to see...wasn't bad at all. It's been a perfect weather pattern as far as moisture goes. Rain coming in waves so you can hold onto it where you need it, and it has time to drain where you don't.

I feel the same way. We have waves here too where it comes down hard and then tapers off. The only drawback for me is that Cole is for some reason I cannot understand, afraid of thunder and lightning. I mean really scared. I have tried asking him why he is afraid and I have told him that neither can hurt him inside the house, but he has some irrational fear. Last night he went to bed with ear plugs AND ear protectors on! I hope it is over with the thunder at least for tonight.

Um... you used to not like thunder & lightning as well. Diana didn't either. Runs in the family - just give hugs :)

Up here the power goes out on the big storms. Luckily, my alarm clock (from our WEDDING) has a battery inside so it keeps the right time :)

Keeka---there are some really good kids books on the phenomena of thunder and lightning. If you got some of those for Cole to read and sparked an interest, would that help? I know that works for spiders (That is, people irrationally scared of spiders, not spiders irrationally scared of thunder)
A foot of snow this morning. Other than sledding, we ain't goin' nowhere unless it melts quick

Maybe you can find one that explains how Moths are not deadly...

haha Lee. Man you guys covered all my fears in one! And sorry, no matter how much I read up on spiders (huhhhhghhhgghhg), I will never NOT be afraid of them. And the reason I don't like moths is because they fly erratically and can bump into you! ICk.
I was told that making Thunder and Lightning a learning experience might help, but if he is like me, most likely not. Carl (mr. Technical) tried to explain, but really only got "but it scares me" out of him anyway...Cole not Carl.
